Very Beautiful Japanese Carved Bear with Salmon (Large)

Description

You are looking at a carved Japanese bear that measures approximately 1.5 feet in length and 10-12 inches high. This bear was purchased by my parents in Japan in the mid 1970s. It has been taken care of very well. It is very beautiful wood, although I don't know the species.
The bear sat in my brother's room for three decades, and I have seen it many times over those years. This particular statue has always struck me as strikingly well proportioned and realistic in its affect.
There are very few discernible scratches. There is one area on the belly that seems to indicate some wood separation, but this appears to be a natural process that has to do with the wood.
