RARE Vintage Marguerite de Angeli Hedwig Elin Doll Composition
VERY RARE Vintage HEDWIG Elin Doll With Original Clothing. This 14-inch all original Hedwig doll is probably the Swedish Elin character from Marguerite de Angeli’s book “Elin’s Amerika.” These Hedwig dolls are named for de Angeli’s friend who designed and made the clothing for the dolls, and it is believed that there are fewer than 100 still in existence, most of which are in the hands of the family or friends of the author, Marguerite de Angeli.
This doll has long blonde hair in braids, green tin eyes with smoky shadow and soft (not painted) eyelashes. She is dressed in her original dress with striped apron, suede lace-up vest, scarf with silver colored ring, red bonnet, petticoat, underwear, knit stockings, and lace-up  half-boots. None of it looks like it has ever been removed. Circa 1940. Condition is "Used" and clothing is in vintage condition (has an antique patina). Very sweet face.
