    Description

I have just moved from my house in NJ where I was a big collector of a variety of objects to outfit my big Victorian. Now that we have moved to Florida, there is just no way to keep so many things.
    Description:
I've a had this piece a few years, having bought it at auction in NJ.
The style is most definitely Meiji Japanese, representing the god Ebisu.  Ebusi is the Japanese god of fishermen and luck. He is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune (七福神 Shichifukujin), and the only one of the seven to originate purely from Japan without any Hindu or Chinese influence.
The piece is very large, measuring 13” tall. It is about 8.5” wide and 6” deep.
The piece has a bronze-like patina.  Since the metal is magnetic, I cannot be sure if it is bronze or some other cast metal.
It's hard to capture with a photo, but the base has a bit of a green tinge to the patina while the figure is much more smooth and typical bronze color.
    It weighs over 15 pounds.
It looks like the piece was cast in three separate pieces.....the base, the fish and the man. The man appears to have been welded or soldered to the fish.
    I cannot find a maker's mark.
    Condition:
I see a very minor issue which is a section where the man is not fully welded to the fish. (see close-up photo.)
I apologize ahead of time for the cost of shipping. I only ship USPS Priority as I feel I can insure the package.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
